Review

In today’s time, there are a lot of ways of getting around town. One of the best, and definitely most fun, is on a skateboard. But what’s the point of having one when it’s bland, old, not good quality, or just ordinary? Dusters California has come up with a new, brilliant design- the Dusters Bertha Grateful Dead Longboard.

In collaboration with the band, they have come up with a stylish and simply breathtaking longboard for your everyday needs. The Grateful Dead have been making music for a long time, and it just happened to be their 50th anniversary, so Dusters California made it all the more special by releasing a new line of longboards dedicated to their legacy.

This band is famous for their astonishing imagery collided with their music, so it’s no wonder that this longboard has been painted on both sides with the motif from the band’s popular song. “Bertha” was actually a name given to a metal fan in the band’s office which apparently moved by itself when activated. The song, though, represents a different story to each person which is why it’s so unique that its spirit deserved to be etched into a longboard. This makes it perfect for any fan or, really, anyone that appreciates great art and unusual boards.

Of course, you may be wondering if you really need a board and if the price is actually worth it. Has there ever really been a board too many? Nothing’s wrong with having a collection, plus, this way you can incorporate your boards with your outfit or mood. Why not treat yourself to something you’ll enjoy for years to come? And here’s a little secret, it’s somewhat cheaper if you get it online, rather than in a store. Another problem might be if you’ll be able to carry it around.

Say you’re going to a venue, or a lecture, or your job and your vehicle of choice is, of course, your longboard. When you get there, what are you going to do with your board? The best option is probably to put it in your backpack. That way you’re sure it’s always with you, and it’s less likely to get stolen.

Features:

  • Wood burned Dusters x GD logo
  • A clear broadcast grip
  • Slant 150mm reverse kingpin trucks
  • 1/8″ riser pads
  • Dusters Abec7 bearings
  • 65mm x 47mm 83A wheels
  • Weighs 6.55 pounds

The item’s construction is solid, and we’re already used to the quality of Dusters boards. On top of that, it is factory assembled, so you can skate as soon as you get it. Roses delicately decorate the right side and most of the main deck, while the rest is a very flattering shade of pink (although it’s available in many other colors). The bottom of the board tells a story of a skeleton bathed in roses, with a crown of the same flowers on its head. This haunting image can be interpreted in various ways, depending on your personality, which truly makes it a custom board.

The great thing about the Dusters Bertha Grateful Dead longboard is that there are no pesky bumps or low-quality wheels that you have to worry about. If you think about it, it’s better to pay a tad extra and be satisfied with your purchase than to have to fix a cheap item all the time. It runs very smoothly, gliding along the pavement which makes it quicker than the average board. Users have also confirmed that regardless of gender, it makes an ideal gift and overall ride that anyone will enjoy. Be it your boyfriend, girlfriend, daughter, son, or yourself.

Overall, the Bertha grateful Dead Longboard is a great contribution to not only your collection, but your life as well. And if you do not own any other boards, this is a great one to start with. Anyone that hasn’t tried skateboarding doesn’t know the feel of the wind in your hair, and the adrenaline in your blood, all the while looking amazing; especially on a skateboard you love. Anyone that has would surely agree with me.

My opinion has always been that life is too short to not try out new and exciting stuff, or to deny yourself the simple pleasures of doing what you love- doesn’t matter if it’s sports, art, or anything in between. It applies to this particular board as well, since it is an amazing combination of both art and athletics. Useful and appealing to the eye, it’s definitely one of my top choices to splurge on. So, my advice is to have fun and, stay safe and, of course, above all, happy riding!
