Surf One Longboards

One of the hallmarks of a good company that produces a high quality product is their ability stand by their product. They do not just to say that their product is good, but they are willing to put their money where their mouth is. This is something that is definitely the case when we are talking about Surf One Longboards.

Every single product that is produced by Surf One Longboards has a warranty against delamination and/or manufacturing defects. When a rider purchases a board from this company, they have the confidence of knowing that if there is a defect in the board or if the board fails to operate properly within its natural life, all they need to do is send it back to Surf One Longboards and it will be repaired or replaced with a similar product that is in better condition than the one they previously had.

It’s clear that the people at Surf One Longboards have complete and total confidence in the quality of the product that they are producing!

And really, why shouldn’t they be proud of the products they produce? Boards like the Robert August II, complete with its 43.75 inch length and 8.875 inch width, are among some of the highest quality longboards out there. Like many of the boards produced by Surf One Longboards, the Robert August II is made with 7 ply Maple. This means that this board is going to be extremely sturdy and is going to hold up to even the harshest treatment.

Surf One Longboards prides themselves on creating boards that will not only be able to handle the rigors of high-speed riding but that will also be maneuverable enough for the average individual to use as they are meandering through their college campus. A good example of this is the Surf One Pakala III board. It is breathtaking.

Its dimensions are 43.75 inches long and 9.25 inches wide. It has ample foot space and provides unprecedented stability for the rider. It is the perfect board for anyone looking to cruise through the streets as they search for their local pineapple stand.

Many first-time longboard riders are attracted to Surf One Longboards. The boards are relatively inexpensive when compared to other boards of a similar quality. The extremely forgiving nature of these boards also adds to their attractiveness.

Surf One Longboards has gone out of their way to produce a product that is going to be enjoyable to ride, that is going to endure for the long haul, and that is going to be attractive to look at.

Surf One Classic Complete Longboard

The first skateboard we’ll take a look at is a professionally crafted longboard designed for high-performance quality. With this longboard, you’ll notice a clean and smooth ride that makes it perfect for beginners or those looking for an inexpensive option.

Review

Starting with the physical characteristics and dimensions, the Classic longboard features, well, a classic design. The deck itself is 43.75 inches long by 8.875 inches wide, and the longboard weighs around 12 pounds, which puts it towards the bigger end of the spectrum as far as longboards are concerned. A maple construction makes it decently rigid with enough flex to stay comfortable. If you’re a taller individual, then the size will suit you just fine, however.

Included in the Classic design, you’ll get Independent Trucks, Surf One wheels that are blue and size 65/80, Bones Red Bearings, 9/16″ risers, and 1 ¾” mounting hardware. All around, these are all high-quality parts that contribute to the smoothness of the feel.

The only issue you might have would be with the smaller wheels, though those can be swapped for a different size. Additionally, the board may not be comfortable to use if you’re not on the taller size, as the size can be a bit tricky to get used to.

Pros

  • Smooth and comfortable ride
  • Uses high-quality parts to ensure a quality build
  • A larger longboard is perfect for taller people

Cons

  • Default wheels may be too small
  • Not suited for shorter people

Surf One OG Duke Complete Skateboard

In many ways, similar to the Surf One Classic longboard, this skateboard has some crucial differences that set it apart and give it a different overall feel. However, it is still high quality, and you’ll recognize some of the parts used in the previous board being used here again.

Review

The deck of this skateboard is on the larger size, though overall not as big as the Classic. It measures 41.5 inches long by 9 inches wide, so it’s a bit more manageable, especially since it weighs just over 7 pounds. The deck is made from a hard rock maple deck, so it’s more rigid than your average longboard, which can be a pro or con, depending on preference. You’ll again find Bones Red bearings and Surf One 60mm wheels, but this time around, they opted for Randal R-II 180mm trucks, which are still great quality options.

While the quality of the ride may not be as smooth as what we’ve previously seen from Surf One, it’s still great for carving downhill and enjoying a relaxing coast around town. Again, the Surf One wheels are on the smaller end for what many people typically want, but those can be changed freely.

Additionally, the clear grip tape is less coarse than skateboard grip, so that’ll take getting used to. The design is iconic and pays homage to Duke Kahanamoku, a famous surfer and Olympian swimmer, which is quite fitting and certainly makes the board more exciting for those who know of his many merits.

Pros

  • A smooth ride that’s great for cruising
  • High-quality design
  • California surf-style design paying homage to The Duke

Cons

  • Smaller default wheels
  • The harder board may not be as enjoyable for everyone

Surf One Pakala III Complete Skateboard

Our third Surf One longboard is the Pakala III, which has a noticeably sleeker design that impresses. Again, it is a Surf One longboard, so there will be some definite overlaps in design and quality as there were with the previous boards.

Review

This particular board is made from hard rock maple, though it is slightly less rigid and hard than the Duke, with a surprising amount of flex. The design is also more uniform, running down its length, with the taper not being as strong. It measures 43.75 inches long by 9.25 inches wide, putting it even further towards the larger end of the spectrum. The only other thing that changes between the Pakala and the Duke is that this one uses Randal II trucks.

Despite the kicktail design, this board is most suited towards cruising around town, especially given the flex. Additionally, this board is much pricier, and while the other Surf One longboards have been decently priced for what you get, this option feels a bit too lacking for how expensive it is. Overall, while it is a good quality option, some of the other Surf One boards on this list are certainly better.

Pros

  • Sleek, quality design
  • Good option for beginners
  • Great for smooth cruising around

Cons

  • Pricy for the quality received
  • A surprising amount of flex for kicktail board

Surf One Robert August II Longboard

Our final longboard is the Robert August II, another design paying homage to another famous surfer, much like the Duke. This board is similar in many ways to the Classic and the Duke in its design and parts, making it an excellent starter board.

Review

Measuring around the same size as the Classic at 43.75 inches by 8.87 inches, this board is made from 7-ply maple, too, giving it a similarly smooth and clean feel to cruising and carving. Beneath the deck, you’ll find Randal II 180mm trucks, which are the same high-quality ones used in the Pakala, so this is easy access to them if you couldn’t afford the more expensive option. You’ll also find the classic Red Bones bearing used in all these boards.

It’s easy to compare to the Classic as it is pretty much the same longboard with a different deck design. You’ll experience the same smoothness and stability that makes it perfect for beginners and casual skaters alike, as well as get to bring a chunk of surfing legacy with you by celebrating Robert August II, similarly with the Duke. It could make a great collector’s item alongside the Duke one day.

Pros

  • Smooth and easy to ride, like the Classic
  • Great quality design with good flex
  • Homage to famous surfer Robert August

Cons

  • A bigger board can be challenging to manage for shorter people
  • Bigger and heavier than the average board
