Best Electric Scooters
If you are looking for an awesome electric vehicle but don’t fancy either hoverboards or motorized longboards then an electric scooter might be just the thing for you.
They are a ton of fun, incredibly convenient, and usually very affordable.
Unlike a lot of other products, there are several differences between each electric scooter. Some are designed for children, some for adults, and some have seats, while others require you to stand up.
We will focus mostly on the quality and overall performance of the products. Which will hopefully give you all the tools you need to choose the best electric scooter for you. Now, let’s get into the reviews.
Best Scooter for Kids – Most Affordable
Razor E100
If you are looking for an incredibly fun and affordable motorized scooter then this is likely the best option on the market right now. It is the perfect present for any young relative, as it won’t break your budget, it’s a hoot to ride, and safer than some of the more expensive options.
As this is the cheapest of the bunch on our list it obviously does not go as fast as the other scooters reviewed here. However, it is targeted to children, so that also translates into a safe option for your son or daughter to ride. That being said, just because it’s safe, doesn’t mean it isn’t fun to ride.
The zero-emission motor on the E100 will take it up to around 10 mph and can be used for as much as 45 minutes at a time. Even when it runs out of battery it is still a decent kickback scooter.
The break and gas are both hand controlled making it incredibly easy to use. The breaks are not too harsh or too weak, which is otherwise a problem with many electric scooters.
The only downside is its performance in bad weather. It does not do well in the rain or mud, but that is really a small negative for such a great value for money scooter. Definitely our absolute favorite electric scooter for kids.
Note: You can upgrade to the E300 if you don’t mind spending a considerable amount more. It is basically the same scooter but can go up to 15mph. We generally recommend the E100 as it is quite a lot to pay for an extra 5mph. However, if you don’t mind spending a little more it is an excellent choice.

Best Scooter for Teenagers
Razor E300S
In terms of performance, it is basically the Razor E300, however, the seated design brings a whole new joy to the riding experience. Unlike the E100, it is more targeted at teenagers, which also shows in the performance. It has a max speed of 15mph which is why you might not want to give it to your 5-year-old nephew. But for older children or teenagers, this is perfect.
Not only is it faster, but the seated design makes it more comfortable to ride for a longer period of time, and even more fun.
It is a little higher in price than the E100 but unlike the regular E300, it is actually worth the extra money. Having a seat and twist throttle gives it a more adult, motorcycle sort of feeling.
So if you want to go the extra mile for your teenager, the E300S is the ideal choice.

Best Scooter for Adults
Urb-E Black Label Stealth
Now let’s move on to more adult vehicles, starting with the Urb-E Stealth from Black Label. This is a modern, high quality, high performing adult scooter that just oozes with cool factor. It is considerably more expensive than any other pick on our list but it makes up for it in comfort, performance, durability, and design. Unlike most other scooters on this list, it is designed and crafted in America. It is made in Pasadena, California and it shows, it is literally the embodiment of California lifestyle and one of the few scooters on the market I’d argue looks cool even when used by full grown adults.
It has a max speed of 15mph, which is actually the same as the E300S. However, it has a much longer range and the overall quality is better than any other scooter on this list. It can take you as far as 20 miles on a single charge.
The design is incredibly innovative and looks nothing like a regular scooter. While it looks incredible, that is not the main objective of this design choice from the developers. It is insanely comfortable to ride and also very practical, thanks to its foldable design.
Whether you want a practical vehicle for your commute or just want to have fun in your spare time, the Urb-E is brilliant. This scooter can turn the most boring commute into an absolute blast, possibly making the most hated part of the day your favorite part.
It also has a GT version, if you want to go all in. This enhances the overall speed performance and range, and takes it up to 17 miles per hour. Purchasing the GT version will set you back quite a lot of extra bucks, but if you are not on a budget, it will totally be worth it.

Fastest Motorized Scooter
Super 36v Turbo 1000-Elite
Do you have a need for speed? Look no further! This beast of a scooter is our absolute favorite turbo model and can take you around town at a whopping 20 miles per hour. It has a very powerful motor and it really shows when going up a hill, where it still manages to stay above 15mph. No other scooter on our list can match this.
While there are a few motorized scooters that can go faster, all of those we tested had quite a lot of technical issues or a poor overall quality. The Super 36v Turbo manages to have outstanding performance and still keep the product quality high. While it is by no means cheap it is incredibly inexpensive compared to other scooters with the same performance.
I wouldn’t say this scooter caters to a specific age. While it is too fast for actual children, it is perfect for thrill-seeking adults or teenagers.
It’s seated design also makes it very comfortable to ride. Comfort combined with speed makes it an amazing commute vehicle if you don’t want or can’t afford a car.
It is worth noting that it’s standard speed is 15mph, but its turbo mode will take you up to 20mph. This is obviously done to save battery whenever you can.
So if you want speed and fun, the Turbo 1000-Elite is the perfect electric scooter for you.

Ultra lightweight & Fast Scooter
Swagtron Swagger
If you find most electric scooters too bulky and impractical then the Swagger from Swagtron might be just the thing for you. Despite having an electric motor, it manages to look almost entirely like a regular scooter. However, don’t let its humble exterior fool you, it is faster than you’d think.
The Swagger is one of the fastest and most convenient scooters for its price. It can go up to around 15 miles per hour, which even rivals some of the more expensive scooters. On top of this, you can ride it for as long as 15 miles per charge and the charge time is a mere 90 minutes. This is insane and in no small way thanks to the lightweight design and excellent 250W Swagtron motor. Even if you want to go further than 15 miles, it is incredibly easy to use as a regular kickback scooter.
If your work or school is relatively close to your home, but still too far for you to walk, the Swagger is just the thing you need. Its foldable, compact design makes it easy to take with you anywhere, and maneuver around the city streets. Not to mention that it is so much fun!
All of this is great but it is even more so when you consider the price. It is definitely one of the best mid-tier electric scooters on the market right now.

Why Get An Electric Scooter?
There are plenty of good reasons to get one of these marvelous vehicles, let us go over some of the big ones.
Convenient
Few vehicles can match scooters when it comes to convenience, besides electric longboards and maybe hoverboards there really is no contest. Unlike larger vehicles, such as a car, you can avoid traffic congestion and take shortcuts with ease, removing the stress of commuting, especially if you live in a big city. If you live 15 or more miles from your workplace or school electric scooters may be at a bit of a disadvantage as, at that point, a car will likely be faster.
Another convenient factor is that you can take it with you on the bus, car, or train if you so wish. Most of them come with a foldable design that makes it no larger than a large briefcase. Even if you live far from your workplace, you can just fold it, take the bus or train most of the way and then enjoy the smooth ride on your scooter the last few miles.
Good on the Environment and Your Budget
Whether you feel it or not, we are in the midst of a global environmental crisis. Although there has never been more focus on green and reusable energy, we can always do more. It is not always easy to make the environmentally correct decision if you live in a country where the crisis is not visually present. However, green energy is not only critical to the survival of the planet, it is also very cheap in this case. Unlike gas driven vehicles such as cars and motorcycles, electrical scooters use zero-transmission motors. Which not only save the environment but also your budget.
You could choose to get a hybrid car or a simple bicycle, but a hybrid car is infinitely more expensive and the bike is just not as fun. Also, a hybrid car runs on a mixture of gas and electricity, so even though it is way better than a regular diesel car, it’s not as eco-friendly as a motorized scooter.
Getting an electric scooter not only shows that you are concerned about the environment, but it will save you a lot of money in the long run.
Fun & Safe
First of all, and probably the biggest reason to get a motorized scooter: it’s fun! The maneuverability and relatively high-speed capabilities of these scooters are so much fun. Whether you just want to make your commute much more enjoyable or just want a great hobby. Doesn’t really matter if you are a kid or an adult, there are scooters that fit every age. There are turbo scooters for the grown-ups and teenagers and safer, slower options for children. Although kids will probably enjoy them more than anyone, as it is with many things.
Perhaps the most important factor when you talk about toys for children is the safety aspect. Those designed for children cannot go above 15 mph, which can seem like a lot, but it is no more than they can achieve with a decent bike. However, with every other vehicle, it is important to get some decent safety gear. As long as you make sure to get a helmet and maybe some kneepads and gloves to go with the scooter, your child will be protected whilst having the time of his/her life.
Note: Be sure to discuss proper street etiquette and traffic safety to ensure that young riders are not putting themselves in harms way while riding motorized scooters.
What to Consider Before Buying a Motorized Scooter
Now that we have talked about the why let us talk about what you need to know in order to make the best possible purchase.
Who is it for?
Scooters are not very age-specific per say. However, every scooter does have a target audience, and it is important that you get one that matches the age of the recipient. If you are an adult, you might want a higher quality scooter with great motor power. You might focus a bit more on ease of use and safety when you buy one for a child. This is why we highlighted the targeted age audience for each of the scooters we reviewed. You don’t want to give your 8-year-old nephew a 18mph scooter if you want to stay on good terms with the parents. And you don’t want to end up with a 10 mile per hour scooter with a maximum weight capacity of 140lbs if you are a grown up.
What do you need it for?
Do you want to trade in your car for a more eco-friendly option? or perhaps you just want to have fun with a turbo scooter in your free time. It is absolutely crucial you get a scooter fitting for your needs if you don’t want to regret the purchase a month later. So if you want to spice up your commute to work, make sure to get a scooter with plenty of miles per charge and good comfort. And if you’re looking for a hobby scooter, you might want a turbo version with high speed or even off-road capabilities.
Budget
This goes for almost any type of purchase, but your budget is important, perhaps even more so with electric vehicles. The more expensive models can sometimes save you money in the long run. The lower quality scooters will obviously always be cheaper. If you are looking to switch your car out for a more economical transportation option then you might want to go for a more expensive model. This will still save you a crazy amount of money in the long run. Charging is almost free and the good ones go incredibly far on each charge.
Conclusion
Motor-driven scooters are an incredibly fun hobby and if you have the slightest interest in trying it out, you will most certainly enjoy it. It has almost no age limit, as long as you get an age-appropriate scooter. It is eco-friendly, safe, and very economical. So whether you want to be the hit of a birthday party with the best present your son has even gotten or want a great vehicle for your commute, it is a smart option.
There are plenty of good ones on the market right now, but even more bad ones. We were quite shocked by how many of the products we tested had major issues. This is why we narrowed it down to 5 excellent scooters. As long as you go with one of our picks that fits your needs you will most certainly not regret it.
